Pankratios of Vatopaidi, Archimandrite

Pankratios of Vatopaidi, Archimandrite

Archimandrite Pankratios of Vatopaidi went to the Holy Monastery of Vatopaidi after 1830. He served as abbot at the Monastery’s metochia in Moldo-Wallachia. He gave many gifts to the Monastery. In 1857 he donated a Holy Chalice of fine craftsmanship. In 1858 he assumed the expense for the gilding of the bishop’s throne in the katholikon church. In 1882 he renovated the chapels of the Holy Trinity, of the Holy Archangels, and of the Three Hierarchs. In 1885 he donated the large chandelier in the katholikon which was made in Vienna. He reposed at the Monastery in 1894, and his skull is kept in the area of the Holy Altar where the holy relics are kept, a witness to the virtuous comportment of the man.
