Gennadios II Scholarios, Patriarch of Constantinople (1454–1456) (1462) (1464)

Having resigned from the Patriarchal Throne during his first period in office, Gennadios Scholarios retired to the Holy Monastery of Vatopaidi on 12 May 1456 and remained until September of that same year. Afterwards he went to the Monastery of John the Forerunner in Serres, where he also reposed. During his stay at Vatopaidi, his nephew Theodoros Sofianos reposed and was buried in the Monastery’s cemetery.
