Gerasimos, Metropolitan of Drama

Gerasimos, Metropolitan of Drama

Metropolitan Gerasimos originated from Paros. He was made Metropolitan of Philippi and Drama in the late eighteenth century and afterwards he became a brother of Vatopaidi Monastery. In the Monastery’s guesthouse, Gerasimos restored the Chapel of the Apostle Andrew and decorated it with wall-paintings at his own expense in 1788. His name is mentioned in the foundational inscription, along with the name of Sacristan Philotheos Moudaniotis. Many heirlooms of Gerasimos are kept at the Monastery.
