Sophronios, Metropolitan of Irenopolis († 1796)
From 1768, Prohegumenos Sophronios served as general administrator of the Vatopaidi metochia in Romania and was consecrated titular Metropolitan of Irenopolis and Vatopaidi. In 1784, he made a votive offering of five pungia – that is, 2500 Turkish gurus – for Athonias and to Vatopaidi Monastery, and another 10 pungia in 1786. He died in 1796.
