Founding of the Pantokratoros Monastery by the two brothers Alexios, Great Commander of the Military (Μέγας Στρατοπεδάρχης) and Ioannis the Primikerios (Πριμικήριος).
1362/3
The cathedral is consecrated by Patriarch Kallistos I, dedicated to the Transfiguration (Μεταμόρφωση) of Christ the Saviour.
1384
Will of Ioannis the founder.
1392
A big fire destroys significant part of the structures, including the archives of the Monastery.
1501
Staikos, the ruler of Vlachia, is recorded as being the new founder of the Monastery.
1568
Sultan Selim II confiscate the properties of the monasteries.
1629
Sultan Selim II confiscate the properties of the monasteries.
1822
After the occupation of Mount Athos by the Ottomans, most monks leave, taking with them the heirlooms. They return back in 1830.
1912
Mount Athos is liberated by the Greek Navy.
1922
Asia Minor Catastrophe, the monk Joseph, Treasurer of the dependency of St Nikolaos of Kydonieos (Aivali), is martyred by the Turks.
1948
Panagia Pyrosotiera, ‘Virgin Mary, the Saviour from Fires’, stops a big fire.
1992
The monastery is a communion again, with a Xenophon brotherhood and abbot Archimandrite Bessarion.
