Founding of the Pantokratoros Monastery by the two brothers Alexios, Great Commander of the Military (Μέγας Στρατοπεδάρχης) and Ioannis the Primikerios (Πριμικήριος).

The cathedral is consecrated by Patriarch Kallistos I, dedicated to the Transfiguration (Μεταμόρφωση) of Christ the Saviour.
